Hello and welcome to Delusions of Fluency. This site is a project of mine aimed at recording my thoughts on language learning.
First, a little about me... I was raised in the United States of America and English is my native language. Since my parents were immigrants, I also grew up speaking Russian at home (though it's not as strong as my English).
Unlike many other language sites, which are written by polyglots (people who know a lot more languages than me... ha-ha!), I am not here to sell you an expensive e-book or language program. Instead, this site will follow my progress as I try to pick up a third language, Spanish.
I am also not a language expert, nor do I possess any kind of language credentials whatsoever. Instead, I am just an ordinary person with a regular day job who is doing this on the side. My hope is that this site will be an inspiration to others who are also looking to learn a language, especially those who, like me, can only devote so much time because of jobs and responsibilities.
I believe that language learning should be FREE.
I do not believe that you need you need to pay for anything other than an internet connection or cable TV in order to learn a language.
No e-books... no language programs... no fancy apps.
Feel free to read through the articles in this site and check out the links to other language sites from which this one draws inspiration.
